Helping ambitious women in technology manage their career with confidence and purpose

8th October 2017

Round-up of this week’s posts for ambitious women

At least once a year, I flex my blogging muscle and tackle Sarah & Kevin’s amazing 30 Day Blogging Challenge. It’s an absolute bargain because they offer so much support, knowledge and encouragement. My blog has gone from strength to strength since doing their challenge the first time, three or four years ago.

The Confident Mother blog focuses on career, confidence and leadership articles for ambitious women. Most of my clients are women in technology or women in professional services, so mostly women in the City, as that’s my background.

During the challenge I blog daily … outside the challenge, I blog 2 to 3 times a week including a weekly episode for my podcast, Confident Conversations. I also regularly post articles on LinkedIn.

Here’s a quick round-up of my week 1 posts.

Day 1 – Why simplicity is good for your confidence

There’s nothing like a bit of straightforward talking from like-minded women who know you and your business intimately, and aren’t afraid to ‘say it like it is‘. And that’s what I got when I met with my mastermind when I was reminded that simplicity is beautiful. Discover what happened next.

Day 2 – How are you celebrating #NationalWorkLifeWeek

Last week (2-6 October) was #NationalWorkLifeWeek. In this post, I share some of my very best and absolute favourite resources on how to confidently balance life and work.

Day 3 – How to attract the right people to your LinkedIn profile

As a career and leadership coach, one of the essential tools in your career toolkit is your LinkedIn profile. In this post, I share the 3 key things you need to attract the right people (and therefore the right opportunities) to your LinkedIn profile.

Day 4 – How does confidence coaching work?

This is for you if you’ve ever wondered what coaching, and more specifically confidence coaching, is all about and whether it’s right for you.  In this post, I explain how it works and what happens in a session.

Day 5 – How to ask for a pay rise

This interview with Michelle Gyimah of Equality Pays explores how to negotiate and ask for a pay rise.

Day 6 – What annoys me about ambitious women jobhunting

In this post I share what really annoys about ambitious women when they are jobhunting and why it drives me crazy that they don’t big themselves up enough.

Day 7 – Why I love London City

This post shares some of my recent photos of one of my favourite cities. These are photos that I have taken out and about when visiting clients in the last few weeks.

Later this month

Ideas I have for later this month: how to prepare for an interview, mental health for ambitious women (I’ll even share my own personal story on National Mental Health Day), what’s the difference between ‘work-life balance’ or ‘life-work balance’, how to create a successful challenge like my LinkedIn one, and a review of the UKDEG Document Excellence Day.

What else would you love me to explore?
