Breastfeeding is not always easy for mums. As an experienced NCT breastfeeding counsellor, I know that finding the right support is SO important. For 3.5 years, I worked part-time for my local health visiting service as part of the Community Infant Feeding. However funding cuts mean that the team can no longer pay for specialists to provide the support and the number of breastfeeding drop-in groups has been cut.
We want to open a Baby Cafe in my local area on the border between Mottingham and Chislehurst to support pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as train local mums to qualify as NCT breastfeeding peer supporters. We need your help to raise the funds.
Our first grant application was unsuccessful. You can see our video here. I am working on submitting a second grant application. Ultimately one of my business goals is to fund the local breastfeeding support group directly. In the meantime, we are being creative to raise funds. My two daughters and I have spent many a happy hour creating beautiful bracelets. The profits from all the sales will go directly to the running of our Baby Cafe (as will 10% of the profits from my book sales).
I’d love your support for this not-for-profit venture – you can do that by buying one of our bracelets:
