If you’re waiting for that perfect moment to get started, I get it.
I’ve spent years waiting for the perfect moment only to realise, it’s never going to happen.
So stuff it … I’m getting started now.
I don’t have funding.
I don’t have volunteers.
I didn’t have a branch.
It’s out there now – I’ve announced it. The moment has arrived. It’s imperfect but perfectly imperfect.
If you’re still waiting for your perfect moment, just get started.
Some of you know that I’m an experienced NCT breastfeeding counsellor. I qualified back in 2010. I spent four years working for my local health visitor team running their breastfeeding drop-ins. I worked for the Baby Cafe national network for two years training Baby Cafe staff all over the country how to set up and run breastfeeding drop-ins. And of course I’ve supported literally 100s of parents privately offering home visits in person or on Zoom to support with infant feeding issues.
Ever since I qualified back in 2010, I wanted to set up my own breastfeeding support drop-in.
The first time I applied for a grant, I was turned down.
Then life got busy, cancer knocked on my door and I didn’t get round to applying again. I was about ready to try again when Covid happened.
NOW it is happening.
Though I don’t mind admitting that I’m somewhat daunted by the commitment to run a weekly breastfeeding drop-in and how I’ll fit that in around work, my coaching and my trustee commitments.
But if I don’t get started now, I never will.
The Baby Cafe Bromley will open its doors in December 2022 to provide trusted & personalised support, alongside evidence-based information, on a range of feeding topics to help parents feed their babies in the way they want.
And if you’re a parent in the Bromley borough and have had a baby in the last two years, I’d love your support by telling me about your experiences – I’ll use the anonymous data to support the grant application. Complete the survey HERE.
What about you?
What’s the perfect moment you’ve been waiting for? Don’t wait to get started. Just do it today. If I can, you can too. It only needs to be a baby step. Tell me about it in the comments. I’d love to hear more.
