What’s easier to remember: laura-bevan-bb832011b or laura-c-bevan? Last week, one of the mums in my Back To Work Confidence programme asked is whether she should include her LinkedIn profile URL when she submits a job application or on her CV. But it’s got to be easy to remember or find.
The answer is absolutely 100% YES! If you are going back to work after a career break or redundancy or looking to change career, then YES, it’s a great idea to share your LinkedIn profile … UNLESS the job you are applying for is completely different to what you are portraying about yourself on LinkedIn. If that’s the case, then I suggest you make a few tweaks to your LinkedIn profile first.
Even if you don’t intend to share your LinkedIn profile, any good recruiter will do a quick social media footprint check on you. They’ll check you out on Twitter, on Facebook, and yes on LinkedIn. So if there is a big disconnect between your CV or job application and what’s on LinkedIn, fix it.
When you first create your LinkedIn profile, your LinkedIn profile URL includes a random string of numbers and letters, which quite frankly, does not look pretty and is not easy to remember.
However LinkedIn allows you to customised your LinkedIn profile URL. Watch the video to find out how.
