How are you going to make your best career move yet in 2020?
It won’t happen by magic. It takes confidence and purpose to manage your career.
For example, when was the last time you took time out to focus ON your career rather than being busy IN your career?
Earlier this week I spent two whole days focusing on my 2020 plans, mapping out what I will do, when, where, how and why.
It was brilliant. I came back from those two workshops absolutely buzzing with ideas and inspiration, and starting to solidify the idea for my next book.
If you want to make real progress in your career in 2020, why don’t you do the same. Take time out to focus ON your career rather than simply being busy IN your career.
If you’re not sure how, here’s what I suggest.
How to focus on your career
Block out half a day or even just an hour in your diary.
Go somewhere you won’t be disturbed.
Preferably somewhere you don’t normally spend ‘work’ time to open your mind to possibilities.
Ask yourself:
- on a scale of 1 to 10, how do I feel about my career right now?
- what have I done really well over the past 12 months?
- what am I proud of?
- what do I love doing and want to do more of?
- what do I want to stop doing?
- how am I going to make this happen?
- when do I want to achieve this?
- what support do I need?
- what might get in the way and how can I prevent that happening?
Let me know how you get on. I’d love to hear what insights you get from this exercise and how it helps you to make your best career move yet in 2020.
