How to get started on LinkedIn – the absolute basics

If you didn’t join my LinkedIn Kickstart because you’re not on LinkedIn (yet), then let me tell you that LinkedIn has more than 575M users; there are 14M open jobs; 94% of recruiters use LinkedIn to vet candidates. Which means if you’re jobhunting or looking for new career opportunities, LinkedIn is the place to be!

If you are starting to think you ought to have a LinkedIn profile, here’s a very quick post to tell you how to get started. Whether you want to use LinkedIn for career opportunities or for your business. Even if you are not currently jobhunting, no matter whether you work in technology, professional services or marketing, you NEED to be on LinkedIn.

Step 1 – Visit the LinkedIn sign-up page

Step 2 – Enter your first name, last name and email address

Step 3 – Click Join now

Step 4 – Complete the prompts that follow

Step 5 – LinkedIn will send a code to the email address that you used

Step 6 – Enter the verify code you have been sent

Step 7 – LinkedIn will then attempt to automatically to connect you to people you know however you can skip this prompt

Step 8 – You will be prompted to add a photo – highly recommended – if you don’t have a suitable photo to hand, you can add later.

Step 9 – Read my blog post on the 7 essentials you need to get right on LinkedIn.

Step 10 – Join the 10 Day LinkedIn Kickstart which runs three times a year!

That’s all!

It will take you less time than it took me to write this quick blog post.
